Dr. Engr. Mrs. Gladys Quartey is a Senior Lecturer and a Professional Engineer. Currently, the Director of the Centre for Gender and Advocacy, a Former Dean of Faculty of Built and Natural Environment, Chairperson of Convocation Board of Takoradi Technical University. Vice Chair of Women in Technical Education and Development, Takoradi Chapter and a former Head of the Department of Interior Design Engineering. She is also a professional fellow of the chartered Institute of Administration and Management consultancy. She is a conscientious, affable, and approachable with a vast experience in teaching and project and event organization. She has headed the department of Furniture Design and Construction and then Interior Design Engineering. She has, additionally, been a member of some high-profile committees and boards including: The Executive Committee, The Planning and Resource Committee, The Business Development Board, and The Academic Board of Takoradi Technical University. Dr. Quartey apart from her duties as a lecturer, has served on several committees, Search committees and in various capacities and has also chaired several Committees and Boards, with the recent one being The Convocation Board and the Takoradi Technical University Credit Union Board. She has attended and presented papers at both local and international conferences. Her research interest is in the characterization of wood and wood engineering of lesser utilized Ghanaian Hardwoods. She also has an interest in designing interior of buildings.

Dr Mrs. Gladys Quartey has obtained training in the following areas: Executive Mastery in Organizational Development and appreciative leadership (EMODAL), How to Survive as A Scientist in The Higher Education Environment (by DAAD, How to Publish (Elsevier Publish Campus Author Workshop), Association of African University Professional Certificate in Research Methods, Competency Based Training Capacity building by COTVET, Chartered Institute of administration and Management consultancy and Excellence in Design for greater Efficiencies (EDGE by IFS of the World Bank Group).

Dr. Mrs. Gladys Quartey is also a member of the editorial board of Time Journals of Engineering and Physical Sciences since 2013. She has reviewed several papers for international journals such as the Waste and Biomass valorization of Springer Journals and American Chemical Science Journal of the Science Domain International. She has also consulted for Swiss Import Promotion Program. She is a member of International Association of Wood Anatomists (IAWA) and Society of Wood Science and Technology (SWST).

She is married with four children. As an advisor to FASUL, Dr Quartey’s passion is on gender issues and empowering women and the youth.
