Sustainable Livelihood Empowerment Entrepreneurship Skills Development and Financial Management Workshop.

Sustainable Livelihood Empowerment Entrepreneurship Skills Development and Financial Management Workshop.

Consistent with our vision of Supporting the family to develop a child, FASUL through its Rural Empowerment Initiative (RAI) project, intends to provide employable skill opportunities to 150 women and youth in the Kiphart beneficiary communities. Given the number of communities intended to be trained within the Ashanti and Central Region of Ghana, the organization grouped the communities into four zones including the Juaben, Ejisu, Abasua, and Mansokwaa enclaves. We envision that sustainable job creation and engagement of women and youths through skill training and financial management workshops of this sort are viable opportunities to extenuate against the vicious cycle of poverty that absorbs most parts of rural Ghana. This initiative was designed with the foresight that youth or woman will heedfully lead to better their homes and finances and subsequently an enhanced livelihood development, more children going to school, and increased disposable income for the family.

Considering proximity and easy access to other communities, the first skill training and financial management workshop took place at Krofuom community for those within the Juaben enclave between the 19th and 25th of October 2022. In all, 40 women and youth from different communities including; Krofuom, Abesewase, Boatenkrom, Juabenba, Tetekaaso and Nkyerepoaso were trained with different skillsets including; Yoghurt making, Beads bracelets and Beads Slippers making, Liquid and Bar Soap making, Hair and Body Cream making, Sobolo and Millet drinks and Pie making.

Indeed, the program was very impactful as the trainees were made to practically demonstrate the training received. Predominantly, it was clear that the trainees were ready to receive some human capacity training to add up to the already existing subsistence agriculture that they engaged in. Progressively, efforts and plans have been made to continue the workshop in the other remaining zones.
